About the Event
Despite this need, the path to building a product career in the social impact world (whether it’s at a nonprofit or any organization with a clear social purpose) isn’t always clear or easy. These organizations often have fewer resources, and greater constraints placed on those resources. Social impact organizations may not have a product culture, either.
But it has never been more important to build digital experiences and features that connect people to information, causes, communities, opportunities, and each other. So how can we attract and keep more product expertise in the social impact sector, and build products that will benefit us all?
Key Takeaways
This program will feature speakers who have built careers working on digital products with a social purpose. They will dive into:
- How to break into product with a social impact organization (at any stage of your career)
- How to build a career in product within the social impact sector
- How leaders in social impact organizations can find high-performing product people that will stick with their organization
This event is open to everyone interested in product and social impact, from early-career digital professionals breaking into the sector, to seasoned product or program managers looking to connect with and learn from other mission-driven product people. If you’re a leader at a social impact organization, or have experience working in product at a mission-driven company, we invite you to participate in the Q&A and share your experiences with our community.

Melody has been in tech/startups for the last 8 years, starting on the design and UX side before transitioning into product management. Her interest in social impact stemmed from a young age which led to co-founding Toucan Giving during the pandemic, where she drove product vision, strategy and execution from concept to launch. Her team built and rolled out a charitable giving platform that was aimed at making giving second nature through modernizing the donation experience, community and sharing stories. Currently, she's tinkering with product at CanadaHelps, freeing charities to do more good by taking care of the messy stuff (aka uncomplicating their behind the scenes work).
